Construction Superintendent

Join our dynamic design-build commercial construction team specializing in manufacturing facilities, light industrial projects, and cold storage solutions. We’re seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead our field operations and drive project success.

Position Overview

As a Construction Superintendent, you will take complete ownership of day-to-day site management for commercial construction projects. This role requires a hands-on leader who can effectively coordinate multiple trades, maintain rigorous safety standards, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Site Management & Operations

  • Oversee all aspects of daily site operations, including construction schedules, project progress tracking, and resource allocation
  • Plan, implement, and enforce construction site logistics to achieve project goals and maintain schedule adherence
  • Manage site logistics including deliveries, offloading, inventory control, storage, and staging of materials for both KDW and subcontractors
  • Coordinate and manage night shift concrete pours as required by project schedules
  • Maintain jobsite cleanliness and organization standards

Quality & Compliance

  • Implement and enforce comprehensive KDW safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure consistent quality control throughout all phases of construction
  • Maintain Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) compliance
  • Maintain accurate as-built drawings throughout project lifecycle

Coordination & Communication

  • Provide daily field coordination and real-time conflict resolution for subcontractors and KDW staff
  • Resolve design and construction conflicts in the field with sound judgment and technical expertise
  • Utilize excellent verbal and written communication skills to monitor and report on all project aspects
  • Coordinate with end users and facilities teams for smooth building operations and maintenance transitions
  • Collaborate with Project Manager to create comprehensive bi-weekly progress reports for clients

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain detailed daily logs in Autodesk software, including progress photo documentation
  • Track and document all project changes, delays, and resolutions
  • Ensure all project documentation meets company and client standards

Team Development

  • Mentor and develop direct reports with the goal of cultivating future Superintendents
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth

Qualifications

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year institution (Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred)
  • Proven experience with construction scheduling software
  • Comprehensive understanding of all commercial construction disciplines
  • Demonstrated experience in light industrial, manufacturing, and commercial construction projects
  • Proficiency in reading, reviewing, and approving shop drawings, fabrication drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Ability to work at elevated heights (30+ feet)
  • Physical capability to lift or carry materials and equipment up to 25 pounds
  • Willingness to work in extreme outdoor conditions including heat, cold, and rain
  • Exposure to construction site environments including fumes, odors, and noise
  • Availability for extended hours and weekends based on project requirements
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Flexibility to travel for project assignments up to 1 year
