The Houston Business Journal is excited to announce the selection of 59 honorees for its second-annual Best Family-Owned Business Awards.

Besides being financially successful, the companies highlighted below were chosen by HBJ staff and nominated by members of the Houston business community as champions of community investment. The companies were separated into categories based on the number of employees, with all nominees required to meet three criteria to be considered:

Be at least 51% owned by the family.
Have multiple generations involved in the operations of the company and/or have established longevity in business.
Located in one of the Houston area’s 10 counties: Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, San Jacinto and Waller.

The honorees will be recognized at an in-person event on June 20 at 11 a.m. at the Marriott Marquis Houston and featured in a special section of the HBJ’s June 21 weekly edition.

Last year, the HBJ introduced the inaugural Family-Owned Business Awards, where 68 companies were recognized at an awards luncheon held at the Marriott Marquis Houston. Family-owned businesses continue to be a big contributor and catalyst for Houston’s economy, with some of the largest family-owned businesses in the region also being some of our most robust employers.
