Position Summary
KDW is seeking an Assistant Project Manager based in the Austin metropolitan area to support the successful delivery of commercial design-build projects. Working closely with the Project Manager, the APM manages project documentation, schedules, budgets, submittals, and subcontractor coordination while developing toward a Project Manager role. This position requires a minimum of three years of experience with a degree in construction management or engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Project Manager in the day-to-day execution of commercial design-build projects
- Regularly and thoroughly communicate relevant information among all stakeholders, including clients, designers, subcontractors, and field teams
- Assist in developing and maintaining the master project schedule
- Support project budget setup and complete budget revisions on a timely basis
- Manage submittals and shop drawings
- Manage change orders, including timely submission and collection
- Process owner and subcontractor billings on a timely basis and track owner payments
- Develop a working knowledge of owner and subcontractor contract language
- Support procurement and logistics so materials arrive on schedule
- Complete and deliver project closeout documents within contract requirements
- Build and maintain strong client satisfaction and rapport with project teams
- Demonstrate proficiency with project management software and tools
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, or Engineering
- Minimum 3 years of experience with a commercial general contractor or design-build firm
- Must currently reside in the Austin metropolitan area
- Working knowledge of project management software; Timberline/Sage/Autodesk Forma experience a plus
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-starter with initiative and a desire to grow into a Project Manager role
